Luis, a residential HVAC technician

Luis starts Thursday with a call from Mrs. Alvarez. Her upstairs unit is blowing warm air while the downstairs unit runs fine. Before he climbs into the attic, Luis opens ChatGPT and types the symptoms: upstairs warm, downstairs cool, filter changed last month, two-story home, R-410A system. It gives him a short list of checks, including thermostat schedule, return air, evaporator coil, and capacitor.

At the air handler, he sees fault code E4. He opens Claude, pastes the code with the model number, and asks for a plain answer. Claude says the code often points to a limit switch or airflow problem. Luis checks the blower, finds a blocked return, and clears it.

Back in the truck, Luis uses Gemini to draft a quote for coil cleaning and a capacitor replacement. He types the parts, one hour of labor, and two options: essential repair or repair with a maintenance plan. Gemini gives him clear lines he can edit. He then asks ChatGPT to explain the repair to Mrs. Alvarez in friendly words, and she approves the work.

He finishes the service report before he leaves the driveway. Because the writing is already done, Luis gets home for dinner and helps his son with math. The time he won back goes to his family, not to a blank screen.

Before

  • Staring at a blank quote screen
  • Guessing at fault code meanings
  • Repeating the same repair speech
  • Paperwork after dinner

After this course

  • Quotes written before the next call
  • Codes explained in plain words
  • Homeowners nod and approve
  • Home by six on weeknights

What you'll learn

  • Explain Repairs Clearly: Use plain words to tell a homeowner what failed, what you fixed, and why it matters.
  • Draft Quotes and Estimates: Turn parts, labor, and options into a written quote a customer can understand and approve.
  • Troubleshoot from Symptoms: Turn what a customer says into a step-by-step diagnostic plan before you pick up a tool.
  • Decode Manuals and Codes: Paste a fault code or manual section and get a plain answer plus what to check next.
  • Read Nameplates and Photos: Upload a photo of a data plate and pull model, specs, and part details without guessing.
  • Plan Maintenance and Installs: Build tune-up and install checklists that keep every step in order and nothing missed.
  • Document Service Calls: Draft service reports, invoice lines, and follow-up notes from your rough field notes.
  • Safety and Diagnostics: Create safety plans, study for refrigerant exams, and check gauge readings with a second set of eyes.
