0:00 So you don't need to know anything prior and then I'll show you the process I use to take it from app idea using prompting to do some research using UX pilot to do some initial UI designs how to then translate that into windsurf and yeah let's get started. So, first of all, you have to go to windsurerf.com and you have to download this IDE. You can use it for free. Everything actually that we talk about in this video, you can actually use for free.
0:26 But go ahead, download this, install it, and then when you open it, it'll ask you to either log in or create an account. All right, so you've got Windsorf installed. You have logged in or created a new account, and you are at this screen. Now, yours might look a little bit different because you can pick a different color scheme and things like that. So, the first thing we're going to do before we even start a new project is to customize this environment for iOS development.
0:48 On the left hand side, you're going to see a bunch of icons going down the side and you want to go to extensions. We're going to install two different extensions here, Swift and Sweetpad. So, in the search bar, you can search for Swift and you'll see a whole bunch of different extensions. I can't tell you how they differ or which one's the best because I am also relatively new at this. But the one that I have chosen to install is this one by Swift Lang.
1:11 Okay, so this is Swift for Visual Studio Code. If you're not familiar why Visual Studio, you might understand that's another IDE, but we're using Windsurf is because Windsurf is built off of Visual Studio as far as I understand. And that's why all these Visual Studio extensions also work here. And so we want to install this one also, Sweeppad. You'll you might have to search for this as well. And this is another thing that's going to get us closer to making wind surf like Xcode.
1:57 As you can see down here, it helps you do all of these things. I think probably the most useful is managing the iOS simulators because it's going to let us build and run the simulators, launch our app in the iOS simulator directly from Windsurf. So, go ahead and install those two extensions. Now, if you run into any problems installing these extensions, perhaps you get a little popup in the lower lefthand corner saying, "Oh, I couldn't find this or there's this error or that." What actually helps is to ask the AI on the right hand side here that you're trying to install these extensions and you're running into these problems and literally copy and paste the error and ask it.
2:43 It'll either fix it for you or it will tell you how to go about fixing it. Now, after you install these two extensions, there are a few more things we want to install to make it as Xcode like as possible. In the upper right hand corner, you're going to see this toggle panel for the bottom panel. and it's command J. So you can actually just press that to toggle. And we're going to
