Priya's Thursday, two ways

9 lessons · 25 prompts

A day in the life of an Economist: what changes with these prompts.

Priya, a senior economist at a regional development bank.

Priya starts Thursday with a messy spreadsheet from the housing team. Years of quarterly rent and vacancy data, missing entries, inconsistent city names. She opens ChatGPT and uses Data Analysis Basics prompts to clean columns, flag gaps, and summarize what the data can show. She checks the flagged rows herself.

Next she uses Inflation And Indicators prompts in Claude to draft a short note on the latest regional CPI release. She gives the audience as city council staff and asks for plain language, no jargon. Claude produces a first draft with questions for her to verify. She corrects an assumption about energy prices.

After lunch she uses Forecasting And Scenarios prompts in Gemini to build a few scenarios for interest rates and construction. She asks for a table with assumptions, risks, and what would change her view. Then she uses Stakeholder Presentations prompts in ChatGPT to turn the findings into a slide outline and a list of tough questions the board might ask. She practices answers out loud.

By late afternoon she has a clean dataset, a draft note, a scenario table, and a slide outline. She sends them to her team for review. She leaves the office while it is still light, walks to the park with her dog, and reads a novel on a bench. The time she won back goes to rest, not more busywork.
