0:04 name is Marty Wolford. I work for Salt Lake City, which is the capital of Utah. So, I work for the city. Um, I work on the innovation and project management team. So, I'm on the innovation side. I am the AI lead. Um, even though my title is senior innovation consultant, um, [clears throat] I am working on I'm the AI lead. And um I've been working on this kind of work for probably two years now already. It seems like since the coalition was very new.
0:30 Um I came on. So yeah. Yeah. It's been a long journey >> and one of one of countless people who are the AI officer without having the title AI officer in the public sector. one of those people who asked too many questions and got assigned the tasks. They're like, "You seem passionate about this. Do you want to take it on?" Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah. >> Right. Right. Uh and hello, I am Albert Lee, uh privacy and AI officer for the city of San Jose and a uh part of the management team for the Gov AI coalition.
1:13 So, Marty, I want you to to talk to us a little bit about the playbook that you and the team in the uh training working group in our readiness and adoption committee created for all of our coalition members to use. >> Yeah. So, you know, this playbook came about pretty much like I just said, I asked questions and then kind of got assigned this task and um you know, I was at the first I've been to two the both of the summits that the coalition has put on and met so many people from the most random positions who were there to bring back information about AI like a grant writer, you know, just people who are like I don't know anything and I was like go with That was me, right?
2:02 That was me. I didn't come into this knowing much. I joined this training workg group because I really just wanted to take what they had developed and then implement it. But they were developing trainings that were more geared towards like agents and they were more advanced. And I was like, what about those of us who were super like this is not our education? This is not our background. you know, a lot of us are getting kind of just assigned to what are we doing with AI and um so then once again found myself asking a question and being assigned a task and so uh here's the playbook like this is what kind of I needed when I was just overwhelmed with information trying to figure out what to do first.
2:50 Um, >> yeah. >> So, this kind of just like lays out >> like when the AI responsibility falls into your lap. >> Yeah. >> This is what you need. >> And you know, when you're meeting with people like we I just call them the under the hood AI of people that I work with, right? They're >> no offense like they know what they're talking about, but they know what they're talking about to this level where I don't know what they're talking about, right?
3:13 And so that's like for me, I'm like, we need to be able to talk about AI with the people. And they need to be able to receive this information in just like a a more casual way, not in a computer science way or in a cyber angle, right? It's just like just normal talking like this. And so that is really
