Prompts For Auto Mechanics: From Codes To Customers

This course is a set of prompts made for auto mechanics. Each lesson takes one common task and shows you how to get a useful result from your AI.

You will practice with real examples: a trouble code, a customer question, a parts order, a repair order. By the end, you will have a toolkit you can use every day.

  1. The lessons
    1. Explaining Repairs To Customers: Use AI to turn technical findings into clear, friendly explanations and updates for customers.
    2. Decoding Symptoms And Codes: Use AI to interpret trouble codes, build test plans, and rank likely causes from symptoms.
    3. Estimating Jobs And Quotes: Use AI to draft quotes, estimate labor, and break repairs into clear line items.
    4. Parts Research And Ordering: Use AI to find part numbers, compare options, and prepare a parts order.
    5. Repair Procedures And Specs: Use AI to summarize procedures, look up specs, and explain how systems work.
    6. Troubleshooting From Description Or Photo: Use AI to turn a customer's description or photo into a focused troubleshooting plan.
    7. Service Records And Documentation: Use AI to write repair orders, log service history, and draft inspection reports.
    8. Learning New Systems And Tools: Use AI to learn new vehicle systems, calibration basics, and prepare for certifications.
    9. Shop Admin And Scheduling: Use AI to plan the shop day, remind customers about service, and explain policies.
  2. What The Course Covers

The course walks through eight lessons, each focused on a task you do in the shop. You will learn to explain repairs, decode codes, estimate jobs, research parts, summarize procedures, troubleshoot from a photo, handle records, and learn new systems.

Every lesson gives you a prompt you can copy and adjust. You will see how to add your own details so the AI gives you something useful.

  3. How The Lessons Connect

The lessons follow the flow of a repair. A car comes in with a symptom, you decode it, explain it to the customer, write a quote, order parts, and document the work.

Later lessons build on earlier ones. For example, the troubleshooting lesson uses the same code-reading skills from the second lesson.

  4. Using The Prompts Well

Be specific. Instead of asking about a misfire, say the car is a 2014 Subaru Outback with a P0301 code and a rough idle. The more details you give, the better the answer.

Ask your AI to explain its reasoning or to list steps in order. If something is unclear, ask it to say it again in simpler words.

  5. Who This Course Is For

This course is for auto mechanics at any stage, from apprentices to seasoned techs. If you work on cars and want to save time on the paperwork and research, it is for you.

You do not need any experience with AI. The lessons start from the beginning and use plain language.

  6. Safety And Privacy

Never share customer names, addresses, or full VINs with your AI. Use general details like the make, model, year, and symptom instead.

Treat AI answers as a starting point, not a final word. Always check specs and procedures against the manufacturer's information before you turn a wrench.

  7. Your Next Step

Pick one prompt from the course and try it on your next job. Start with something simple, like explaining a repair to a customer.

Once you are comfortable, move on to the video courses in the learning path. They will help you go deeper and prepare for certifications.
