One in four executives expect AI job losses within a year, survey finds

Twenty-five percent of business executives surveyed expect AI to replace jobs at their organizations within the next 12 months, according to research conducted at Glossy's AI Marketing Strategies event.

The finding aligns with broader research on AI adoption. A Boston Consulting Group study reached a similar conclusion: AI is more likely to alter existing jobs than eliminate them entirely.

In fashion and beauty industries specifically, companies are using AI primarily for data analysis and back-end work. That hasn't yet produced clear, widespread job cuts.

Policies lag behind enthusiasm

Companies remain split on whether they have clearly defined AI use policies. Yet most surveyed workers said their organizations actively encourage AI adoption.

This gap between encouragement and policy structure suggests companies are in an experimentation phase. They're pushing employees to use AI while still figuring out which applications work best.

Few companies are formally rewarding AI use. An equally small number have banned it or see minimal adoption internally.

Confidence in AI strategy remains cautious

Executives expressed mixed confidence in their companies' AI strategies. Most rated themselves as roughly middle-of-the-pack compared to competitors, with a slight lean toward being somewhat behind.

Few respondents believed their organizations were significantly ahead or significantly behind on AI usage and efficiency.

For executives developing AI strategy, this data suggests the competitive field remains unsettled. Organizations still have room to move without falling far behind peers. Learn more about AI for Executives & Strategy to develop a roadmap for your organization.
