accesso Names Lee Cowie as CEO to Advance AI Strategy
Lee Cowie has been appointed chief executive of accesso Technology Group, the software company that manages ticketing and operations for over 1,100 venues across theme parks, ski resorts, and live entertainment venues worldwide. The appointment marks a planned transition from founder Steve Brown, who led the company since 2008.
Cowie joined accesso as chief operating officer 18 months ago after seven years at Merlin Entertainments, where he served as chief technology officer overseeing technology infrastructure across 125 attractions in 28 countries. He holds an MBA from Henley Business School and a degree in physics from Imperial College London.
Three Strategic Priorities
Cowie's immediate focus centers on three areas:
- Developing accesso Intelligence, an AI-powered analytics and forecasting platform built on the company's acquisition of Dexibit
- Building an integrated payments strategy to simplify transaction economics for operators and visitors
- Integrating accesso's product suite-ticketing, queuing, point of sale, membership, and guest experience-into a connected system
The company operates the operational backbone for attractions, ski resorts, hospitality venues, and live entertainment sites across 31 countries. Brown said the transition was planned and that Cowie's experience as a former client of accesso gives him insight into operator needs.
"The AI era is coming into our industry and we are ready for it," Cowie said in a statement.
