A new AI-powered tool called VallamAI is being piloted across seven districts in Tamil Nadu, covering 2,100 government school teachers, 150 instructional coaches, and roughly 60,000 students. The tool focuses on foundational literacy and numeracy for Classes 1 through 5. Teachers can assess students through speech, multiple-choice questions, or by manually entering scores. VallamAI then groups students by learning level and generates individual insights into specific gaps, helping teachers decide on suitable remedial measures.
