Alcor launches CMDB Catalyst with AI agents for ServiceNow configuration management

Alcor has launched CMDB Catalyst, an AI-powered product built natively on the ServiceNow platform that automates configuration management database (CMDB) operations. The product, announced Aug. 13, uses 10 purpose-built AI agents to continuously monitor CMDB health, automate routine tasks, and deliver real-time insights with minimal manual intervention.

CMDB Catalyst is aimed at IT operations teams that struggle with inaccurate configuration data as enterprise environments grow more complex. Rather than a traditional monitoring application, the product positions the CMDB as an intelligent operational layer that supports service management and wider digital transformation efforts.

The product's AI agents work across four core areas: data quality and visibility, automation, optimization, and real-time reporting.

What the AI agents do

The data quality and visibility agents continuously monitor CMDB health and identify hidden data quality issues. They also strengthen configuration relationships and give teams complete visibility into their IT environment.

Automation agents detect operational issues, automate repetitive CMDB tasks, and maintain critical infrastructure services with minimal manual intervention. According to Alcor, this includes keeping existing services running without IT staff having to stop and restart workflows manually.

Optimization agents improve platform performance, data quality, and operational efficiency over time through intelligent recommendations. The product also includes dashboards that display AI activity, infrastructure health, and CMDB data quality team-wide.

Design intent and integration

CMDB Catalyst plugs into existing CMDBs rather than requiring a migration to a new database. Because it's built natively on the ServiceNow platform, it integrates with existing ServiceNow environments and leverages the platform's existing security, governance, and scalability features.

"The future of enterprise IT isn't just AI-assisted-it's AI-driven," said Monisha Singh, Chairperson and Sr. Principal at Alcor. "With CMDB Catalyst, we're introducing an AI-powered product that reimagines how organizations manage one of the most critical components of their ServiceNow ecosystem. Our vision is to help enterprises move beyond maintaining their CMDB and begin operating an intelligent, autonomous foundation for modern IT."

Sunita Gulia, Sr. Director - Product Management at Alcor, said: "CMDB Catalyst reflects years of product innovation focused on one objective-making CMDB operations intelligent by design. By combining Agentic AI with purpose-built automation, we've created a product that continuously monitors, automates, optimizes, and improves CMDB operations while significantly reducing manual effort for IT teams."

This kind of agentic AI is part of a broader trend in IT operations. Teams looking to build these skills or benchmark their own approaches can explore how AI is applied in IT & Development or the use of AI in operations to understand what is and isn't possible today.

CMDB Catalyst set the service available live on the ServiceNow AI Agent Marketplace. Alcor said it's offering demos through its website, alcortech.com.

Why this matters for operations professionals

IT operations teams spend a disproportionate amount of time maintaining CMDB data quality and fixing configuration errors that surface during audits or incident response. CMDB Catalyst targets that manual effort directly, by automating the maintenance cycles that take hours of focus. For operations leads negotiating next year's tools budget, the product also demonstrates a concrete shift: vendors now deliver CMDB hygiene as a continuous, AI-owned process rather than a series of manual review cycles. That changes what it means to ask for "automation" when building an IT service management roadmap.
