Anthropic Expands Claude for Legal With 20 Platform Integrations
Anthropic launched Claude for Legal on Tuesday, connecting its AI assistant to 20 widely used legal software platforms and rolling out 12 practice-area specific tools. The expansion marks a significant upgrade to the legal plug-in the company first released in February.
Legal professionals have become Anthropic's most engaged Claude Cowork users across all knowledge-work functions, the company said.
What's Connected
The 20 integrated platforms span the full legal workflow:
- Document management: iManage and NetDocuments
- Contract work: Definely and Docusign
- M&A and transactions: Box and Datasite
- E-discovery: Consilio, Everlaw, and Relativity
- Legal research: Legal Data Hunter, Midpage, and Trellis
- Major platforms: Harvey's legal AI assistant, Thomson Reuters' CoCounsel Legal, Westlaw, and Practical Law
Claude also connects to access-to-justice tools including Courtroom5, Descrybe, and the Free Law Project's caselaw database.
New Practice-Area Tools
The 12 new plug-ins cover commercial law, corporate law, employment law, privacy, intellectual property, and litigation. Separate tools target law students and legal clinics.
Claude is now fully integrated with Microsoft's product suite.
Access to Justice Angle
Courtroom5 CEO Sonja Ebron said the integration helps people find legal resources at critical moments. "Most people don't know they have legal rights until it's too late to use them," she said. "Claude can now meet them where they are-in the moment they're scared and searching for answers."
