Strategy, the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, raised $15 billion using financing products developed with artificial intelligence, executive chairman Michael Saylor said in an August 6 interview with The Diary Of A CEO. "We made $15 billion using AI," Saylor said.
Bonds were the limit
At the start of 2025, Strategy held about $30 billion worth of Bitcoin but had run out of room to issue convertible bonds, its main funding tool at the time. To keep buying more Bitcoin, the company used AI to develop new financing instruments.
STRK and the new instruments
One product that resulted was STRK, a Bitcoin-based convertible preferred stock. Saylor said Strategy raised $2.5 billion through STRK's initial public offering and then sold an additional $8 billion through a shelf registration. Strategy later raised another $4 billion through a separate financial product, bringing total sales of its credit instruments to about $15 billion.
Why this matters for executives and strategy
The case shows AI applied to a specific financial problem: designing instruments that let a company keep raising capital when traditional options run out. For executives, the model is direct - AI helped build the products that brought in $15 billion. The approach also shows finance teams using AI to structure new offerings, not just analyze existing data. AI for Finance is a related topic for teams exploring similar tools.
