Blitzy Raises $200M At $1.4B Valuation For Autonomous Software Development
Blitzy, a Cambridge-based startup, raised $200 million in new funding at a $1.4 billion valuation. The company builds AI systems that autonomously complete software development work, including testing and quality checks.
Northzone led the round. PSG, Battery Ventures, Jump Capital, NFX, Link Ventures, and Flybridge also participated, along with strategic investors from Liberty Mutual, Erie, and BAL.
Blitzy claims its platform increases engineering velocity by 5x for some Global 2000 enterprises. The company has been adopted by dozens of large organizations across 10 industries, including State Street and QAD, though it did not disclose revenue figures.
CEO Brian Elliott and CTO Sid Pardeshi founded Blitzy in 2023. Elliott previously founded Wove and served as an Army Ranger. Pardeshi, an Nvidia alum, holds more than 27 patents in neural networks and image generation.
The company was built on a specific premise: frontier AI models alone cannot solve enterprise software development. Elliott said the solution came from "fusing hyperscaled agent orchestration and a system that deeply understands the legacy codebases it is working within."
Competition heats up in AI coding
Blitzy enters a crowded field of well-funded competitors. Anysphere, maker of the Cursor coding assistant, has raised $3.4 billion and was valued at over $29 billion. The company struck a deal with SpaceX that gives the space company the option to acquire it for $60 billion.
Replit, a cloud-based development platform, raised more than $870 million, including a $400 million Series D in March at a $9 billion valuation.
Lovable, a Swedish AI coding startup, has raised over $550 million, including a $330 million Series B in December at a $6.6 billion valuation.
For development teams evaluating these tools, understanding how autonomous code generation integrates with existing workflows is critical. AI Coding Courses and Generative Code Courses offer technical foundations for working with these systems in production environments.
