CNTXT AI closes $60 million Series A round to deploy sovereign AI globally

CNTXT AI, a UAE-based data and AI company, closed a $60 million Series A funding round co-led by AI71 and BlueFive Capital. The capital will drive product development, new market expansion, and global deployment of secure AI infrastructure for enterprises and governments that require full control over their data.

Who backed the round

The round was co-led by AI71, Abu Dhabi's applied AI firm focused on sovereign, domain-specialized AI, and BlueFive Capital, a global asset manager with $7.4 billion in assets under management. AI71 previously acquired CNTXT AI founder Mohammad Abu Sheikh's earlier venture LocAI, and now returns as a co-lead investor. BlueFive Capital, founded in late 2024 by Hazem Ben-Gacem, targets high-potential economies and aims to transform traditional financial models.

What CNTXT AI builds

The company partners with Oracle, NVIDIA, and AWS, and has supported large language model projects across multiple markets. Its proprietary products include Munsit, an Arabic voice AI that has processed over one million minutes of speech and serves more than 250 enterprises and 150,000 users, and TestAI, a suite for evaluating AI performance before rollout. CNTXT AI also provides training data through labeling and annotation, combining automation with human expertise. The company's services span from raw data preparation to custom AI solutions that integrate with existing infrastructure while keeping data fully sovereign. Why data sovereignty matters for enterprise AI

CNTXT AI's model lets organizations develop and deploy AI without ceding control of their data-a requirement for many regulated industries and government agencies. The platform's emphasis on data control and integration with existing systems addresses a core challenge in sovereign AI, a topic central to AI for IT & Development. "The era of AI experimentation is over; the era of execution has begun," said Mohammad Abu Sheikh, Founder and CEO. "This funding strengthens our ability to build the sovereign infrastructure and talent needed to deploy AI at scale. Our focus has always been on making AI work in the real world, under the most demanding conditions."

What the investors say

Reda Nidhakou, member of AI71's board and CEO of VentureOne, pointed to the company's speed: "CNTXT AI capabilities and speed of execution stand out in this fast moving AI world." Hazem Ben-Gacem, Founder and CEO of BlueFive Capital, said the firm backed CNTXT AI because it is "building exactly the kind of technology-driven platform the region needs, one that turns raw data into real AI outcomes. This is the type of globally competitive business we want to build alongside."

Why this matters for IT and Development

For IT and development teams, the round signals growing investment in tools that simplify sovereign AI deployment without sacrificing compliance or performance. CNTXT AI's stack-spanning data labeling, custom model integration, and pre-deployment testing-offers a blueprint for organizations that must keep data in-country while scaling AI. As enterprises move from pilot projects to production, the ability to maintain data control and auditability becomes a technical requirement, not just a policy checkbox.
