ConstructConnect launches AI takeoff tool built on Google Cloud

ConstructConnect announced Takeoff Boost, an AI-powered service that automates the process of measuring and counting materials from construction plans. The tool uses computer vision to extract measurements in seconds, replacing hours of manual tracing work that estimators currently do by hand.

Takeoff-identifying and quantifying materials needed for a project-directly affects bid accuracy and project margins. Estimators spend significant time manually reviewing plan sets, marking up dimensions, and calculating material quantities. Takeoff Boost processes digital plans automatically, returning structured measurements that estimators can use immediately.

How it works

The service runs on Google Cloud's Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform and Cloud Run with NVIDIA GPUs. Computer vision models classify and detect elements across plan sets, while GPU-backed infrastructure executes the analysis at low latency. Complex multi-sheet plans process in seconds.

ConstructConnect built the system natively on Google Cloud Storage and related services to handle large plan sets with enterprise-grade security and reliability. The cloud infrastructure scales automatically during peak workloads, a critical requirement for estimating firms managing multiple projects simultaneously.

What estimators get

Takeoff Boost reduces the time spent on repetitive measurement tasks, freeing estimators to focus on scope analysis, risk assessment, and bid strategy. The tool returns consistent, repeatable outputs-eliminating variations that come from manual work.

  • Reduced manual takeoff time through automation
  • Consistent measurements across all estimates
  • Fast processing of complex plan sets
  • Secure, cloud-native infrastructure for team scaling

The service integrates with existing workflows. Estimators drop in a plan set and receive usable measurements without changing their current tools or processes.

Market positioning

ConstructConnect has demonstrated strong product-market fit with interior trades and general contractors, signaling a substantial growth opportunity across North American estimating. The company has invested heavily in AI development, with over 200 engineers, data scientists, and ML experts working across the organization.

"Estimating is where margins are won or lost," said Gaurav Singal, EVP and chief technology officer at ConstructConnect. "You drop in the plan set, and in seconds you get structured, usable measurements that estimators can trust."

Takeoff Boost is available now through OnScreen Takeoff and coming soon to PlanSwift, ConstructConnect's two primary estimating platforms.
