Duck Creek acquires Send as Root, Munich Re, Everest and AIG announce partnerships and executive appointments

Duck Creek Technologies acquired Send Technology Solutions, an AI underwriting engine, and Root partnered with Jerry to embed car insurance in the Jerry app, underscoring the industry's push toward AI-driven underwriting and embedded distribution. Munich Re, Everest, and AIG also announced new senior leadership this week.

AI underwriting and embedded insurance deals

Send's CEO and co-founder, Andy Moss, will continue to lead the team as general manager of underwriting at Duck Creek. Send will also remain available as a standalone underwriting orchestration engine. Hardeep Gulati, CEO at Duck Creek, said: "By bringing Send into Duck Creek, we are combining core insurance operations and underwriting orchestration in a trusted agentic AI experience that connects systems of record, decision intelligence, workflows, and action. This is the game changer for insurers: a unified platform that helps them turn underwriting complexity into clearer decisions, faster execution, stronger risk selection, and measurable business value." The deal reflects the growing focus on AI for Insurance as carriers look to streamline underwriting.

Root and Jerry announced a partnership to embed Root's car insurance experience into the Jerry app. Consumers can receive quotes and bind a Root policy within the app. Jason Shapiro, SVP of business development at Root, said in a press release: "Our partnership with Jerry is another strong example of how we're expanding our embedded technology capabilities to partners serving high-intent customers, enabling them to deliver personalized pricing and a modern insurance experience directly within their own platforms. We've removed traditional roadblocks to make affordable coverage available with the speed and ease consumers expect from their digital experiences, right when they're ready to make a decision."

Executive moves

Munich Re named Michael Correa president and CEO of its Canada Life business, succeeding Bernard Naumann, who will lead Munich Re's Life and Health business in Europe and Latin America. Mari-Lizette Malherbe, member of the board of management, said Correa's track record of profitable growth and industry respect made him the right leader to build on momentum in Canada and the Caribbean.

Everest Group appointed Craig Hanrahan as global distribution and chief commercial officer. Hanrahan, formerly head of U.S. retail insurance, will lead global distribution strategy and commercial relationships across insurance and reinsurance. Jim Williamson, Everest president and CEO, said Hanrahan's collaborative approach and experience will deepen partnerships and advance the company's disciplined growth strategy.

American International Group named Christine Williams head of global client and broker relationships. Williams joins from Aon, where she was co-head of Aon U.S. She will lead enterprise-wide relationships with global clients and distribution partners. Jon Hancock, EVP and CEO of General Insurance at AIG, described Williams as a highly accomplished executive recognized for driving growth and strengthening client relationships.

Why this matters for insurance professionals

The Duck Creek acquisition and Root-Jerry partnership show how underwriting and distribution are becoming more automated and embedded in digital experiences. Insurance professionals should pay attention to the rise of AI orchestration tools that connect data, workflows, and decisions, and to the growing demand for seamless, in-app policy purchasing. Adapting to these shifts will be critical for carriers and agents as customers expect faster, more personalized interactions.
