Dyna.Ai Japan, Dolbix Consulting, and Nikkoku Soft launched a joint proof of concept this month for an AI-powered auto insurance sales support platform designed for Japanese car dealerships. The pilot, which began in August 2026, will run in live showroom environments with support from Remolif Co., Ltd. and Toyota Corolla Kagawa Co., Ltd.

The project responds to two converging pressures. A Teikoku Databank survey found that over 50% of Japanese companies report full-time staffing shortages, forcing dealership staff to juggle vehicle sales, financing, and insurance renewals. At the same time, recent revisions to Japan's Insurance Business Act added compliance requirements - mandatory disclosures and detailed customer needs assessments - that add administrative work to every sales conversation.

For insurance professionals working in or alongside automotive retail, this points to a broader shift in how AI tools can handle compliance work rather than replace sales judgment.

Three features tested in live showrooms

The pilot evaluates three core functions designed to assist licensed sales representatives during customer interactions:

  • Instant Policy Lookup - retrieves coverage details and optional riders in real time during conversations.
  • Compliance Checklists - displays required disclosures as a structured, step-by-step checklist to prevent oversights.
  • Automatic Discussion Summaries - generates structured records after each meeting, cutting administrative paperwork.

The platform is built to operate within Japan's Insurance Business Act and the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI). It acts as an assistant to licensed representatives, who retain full authority and discretion over all customer interactions.

Embedded finance in the showroom

The initiative reflects the broader movement toward embedded finance. Grand View Research projects the global embedded finance market will reach $588.49 billion by 2030, driven by financial services integrated into non-financial environments. For Toyota Corolla Kagawa, that means bringing point-of-sale insurance capabilities into physical showrooms so customers can handle a vehicle purchase and insurance setup at a single touchpoint.

Why this matters for insurance professionals

For insurance professionals, the practical takeaway is that compliance and administrative work are increasingly being automated at the point of sale. The platform doesn't replace licensed representatives - it standardizes the procedural work around them, addressing the staffing shortages that have pushed frontline workers to juggle more responsibilities. Dealership insurance staff who can work alongside these tools will spend less time on paperwork and more time on the customer relationships that renewals depend on.

That's the same pattern showing up across insurance roles generally: AI systems handling the routine compliance steps, while professionals focus on judgment and client interaction. The AI for Insurance landscape is moving from back-office automation to front-line assistance, and this pilot is a concrete example of what that looks like in a showroom setting.

The partners plan to introduce advanced features starting late 2026, including core system integration and automated quote generation. That would pave the way for a broader commercial rollout across dealerships nationwide.
