GEMS Education has partnered with Napster to develop and test AI agents and digital personas across its schools, beginning at GEMS School of Research & Innovation (SRI) in Dubai. The deal gives one of the world's largest private school operators direct access to Napster's AI learning system to build tools for guided practice, feedback, and teacher professional development, with a working solution targeted before the end of 2026.
The first phase will run through SRI's GEMS Global Education AI Hub and its Intelligence 360 platform, where teachers, students, and partners can co-design and evaluate the technologies. Initial proof-of-concept projects will cover digitalisation of instructors, gamified learning, AI-assisted content creation, and classroom simulations.
Digital twins and teacher extension
One specific application involves creating digital twins based on teachers' subject knowledge. These personas would give students access to approved educational material and teacher-informed expertise outside school hours, in multiple languages. The partners said the technology is intended to extend the reach of teachers rather than replace them.
Guardrails, safety protocols, and human oversight will be built into the development and evaluation process. Teachers and other staff can intervene when necessary, and usage data will be assessed to determine whether individual applications provide educational value and contribute to learning outcomes.
