Georgetown University's School of Continuing Studies will launch a Master's in Strategic Leadership & AI in Fall 2027, a program designed for professionals who need to integrate artificial intelligence with organizational strategy. Applications are open now, with the program delivered entirely online and asynchronously.
The degree targets aspiring managers and experienced professionals with five to 15 years of experience. Technical AI development skills are not a prerequisite. The curriculum focuses on leadership coaching, change management, ethics, and responsible AI adoption rather than coding or data science.
Two credentials from one program
Graduates earn both a Master of Professional Studies degree and an embedded Professional Certificate in Coaching Skills for Strategic Leaders. Kelly Otter, Ph.D., dean of the School of Continuing Studies, said the program addresses an urgent gap in the market.
"Without question, AI has become a driving force behind business transformation. We urgently need leaders who are at the vanguard of AI-enabled transformation in their industries, not simply reacting to it," Otter said. "This innovative program equips leaders with the knowledge and skills to move beyond operational management, shape strategic direction, and execute strategy effectively in an AI-driven era."
Leading teams of people and AI agents
George Moschoglou, Ph.D., faculty director and professor of the practice, framed the program around a shift in how leadership itself is defined. "The future of leadership is not about choosing between people and AI. It is about bringing them together," Moschoglou said. "Tomorrow's leaders won't just manage people; they will orchestrate teams of people and AI agents to drive innovation, improve decision-making, and create value."
The program prepares graduates for roles such as director, strategy or transformation lead, portfolio manager, product or operations manager, and business unit manager. An optional global study tour will offer international perspectives on leadership and organizational practices. Program structure and admissions
The online, asynchronous format lets students complete coursework without relocating or leaving their current roles. The School of Continuing Studies will hold an Open House on October 6 and a program webinar on November 6 for prospective students. The program sits within Georgetown's School of Continuing Studies, which also runs more than 30 professional certificate programs and the university's only part-time bachelor's degree.
