Google Cloud has launched Gemini Enterprise for Financial Services, a purpose-built agentic AI platform designed for capital markets and corporate banking. The solution, announced August 25, includes a Google-managed Financial Research agent, more than 50 specialized skills for financial workflows, enterprise data connectors, and integrations with third-party agents. It is available in preview and already in use at BNY, Citi Wealth, Lloyds Banking Group, Macquarie Bank, and Signal Iduna.
The product addresses a specific tension in financial services: institutions need speed to compete, but general-purpose AI tools lack the security, data lineage, and regulatory controls that regulated firms require. The platform is engineered to meet data residency and compliance requirements, with the Financial Research agent delivering outputs grounded in verifiable sources and full data provenance.
"Financial professionals are looking for an AI platform that doesn't lock them into any one model or ecosystem, connects to the IT systems they use every day, and is highly secure and compliant," said Thomas Kurian, CEO, Google Cloud. "With Gemini Enterprise for Financial Services, we are delivering exactly that-agentic capabilities for financial workflows, built with verifiable data explainability, so institutions can turn AI innovation into a confident competitive advantage."
What the platform includes
The solution has five core components. The Financial Research agent automates end-to-end research with confidence scores, explicit methodologies, data snapshots for auditing, and source citations. Users can access it through the Gemini Enterprise app or connect it to existing workflows via Agent-to-Agent (A2A) APIs.
Purpose-built skills handle repetitive tasks like applying brand guidelines, formatting reports, and accessing specific data. They adapt to workflows including credit risk assessment, portfolio monitoring, market news synthesis, and investigative financial research. The platform also includes 13 connectors for licensed data sources such as FactSet, LSEG, Moody's, MSCI, PitchBook, S&P Global, and SEC Edgar.
Third-party agents come from Google Cloud's partner ecosystem. These include the D&B Verification Agent for KYC compliance, FlowX Agents for loan documentation, the Obin Financial Agent for complex financial analysis, and S&P Global agents for data retrieval and energy data insights. The underlying Gemini Enterprise platform provides centralized governance, audit logging, and risk management controls.
How institutions are using it
Google Cloud says the Financial Research agent can compress several high-value workflows. Bond portfolio risk exposure analysis drops to under five minutes, complete with automated duration-hedging suggestions. Client pitch presentations for bond issuance compress from days to minutes. KYC research can map complex corporate hierarchies and resolve ultimate beneficial owners using multi-format ingestion from PDFs, Excel files, and SEC filings.
Deutsche Bank participated as a design partner for the Financial Research agent and will deploy it across its Corporate Bank division. The bank plans to use it for uncovering customer needs, streamlining acquisition processes, and identifying market developments. Deutsche Bank is also exploring the agent for financial crime risk management, forecasting, scenario analyses, and pitch delivery in its Private Bank and Investment Bank division.
"As a design partner, Deutsche Bank has helped shape this capability in view of the realities of a highly regulated industry-from data protection and governance to the workflows our teams use every day," said Marie-Jeanne Deverdun, Chief Technology, Data and Innovation Officer, and Member of the Deutsche Bank Management Board. "Starting in the Corporate Bank, we see significant potential to reduce manual research effort, improve the consistency and auditability of outputs, and give our teams more time for client conversations. This is an important step in applying AI where it can make a practical difference: safely, responsibly and at scale."
The platform works natively within Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, so analysts can export AI-generated insights to Docs, Sheets, Slides, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Google Cloud's partner ecosystem includes Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, Deloitte, Infosys, KPMG, NTT Data, PwC, and others for custom deployments.
Gemini Enterprise for Financial Services and Legal are the first in a planned series of industry-specific solutions built on the Gemini Enterprise platform. Finance professionals tracking AI for Finance developments will find the agent's explainability features particularly relevant, since they address the audit and compliance concerns that often slow AI adoption in regulated environments.
Why this matters for finance professionals
The practical takeaway for finance teams is that agentic AI has moved from experimentation to production workflows. The platform's emphasis on source citations, confidence scores, and data snapshots signals that vendors now treat auditability as a core requirement, not an afterthought. For professionals in capital markets and corporate banking, the near-term impact is concrete: research tasks that consumed analyst hours can now run in minutes, and the bar for what counts as efficient KYC, risk analysis, and pitch preparation is shifting accordingly.
For finance leaders evaluating adoption, Deutsche Bank's role as a design partner offers a useful reference point. The bank's focus on governance, data residency, and auditability suggests these are the criteria that matter when selecting an AI platform in a regulated environment. Professionals building skills in this area may find structured training relevant - an AI Learning Path for CFOs can help finance executives understand how agentic systems fit into existing workflows and control frameworks.
