South Korea Opens AI Funding Program for Game Developers
South Korea's game developer associations are accepting applications for a ₩2.35 billion support program designed to help small studios and indie teams adopt AI tools. Applications run through May 27.
The 2026 Game Development AI Transformation (AX) Support Program, run jointly by the Korea Game Developers Association, Korea Mobile Game Association, and Korea AI Game Association, provides subscription funding for AI software based on company size.
Who Can Apply and How Much They'll Receive
Solo developers and two-person teams get up to ₩5 million. Studios with 3-10 employees receive up to ₩10 million. Companies with 11-20 staff get ₩20 million, and those with 21-50 employees can access ₩50 million.
The program covers roughly 500 companies across these tiers. Large conglomerates, publicly traded companies, and developers already receiving government AI support in 2026 are ineligible.
Application Timeline and Details
Developers can submit applications starting May 18 at 10:00 AM through May 27 at 3:00 PM on each association's website. Duplicate applications will be rejected.
An online information session will be held May 22 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM via Zoom. Each association's website will post the meeting link and detailed application requirements.
What the Program Covers
The funding targets AI adoption across development workflows-from asset creation to coding to production optimization. The stated goals are cutting production costs, increasing output speed, and improving creative work quality.
For developers looking to deepen their AI skills, AI Coding Courses and Generative AI and LLM Courses can provide technical foundations for integrating these tools into existing pipelines.
