Legora plans to more than double its global workforce to 1,500 by year-end

A Jude Law advertising campaign sent traffic to legal AI company Legora's website soaring 900 percent within a month, as the firm disclosed plans to more than double its workforce and expand into six new cities across Europe and Asia-Pacific by year-end. The surge and the expansion signal growing demand among law firms and corporate legal departments for AI tools that handle drafting, research, and collaboration.

Ad campaign and platform growth

The campaign, themed "Law just got more attractive," premiered in April. Unprompted visits to the site jumped 900 percent 30 days later, the Financial Times reported. Law said in a company release: "Legora asked me to be the new face of their brand. So when you see my face in the future, you can associate it with precise drafting, seamless collaboration, and thorough research - powered by AI." The spot was directed by Rhys Thomas and shot by Oscar-winning cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema.

Legora's platform uses AI for Legal drafting, research, and collaboration. The company's client list grew to 1,200 over the previous year, and chief executive Max Junestrand told the Financial Times that demand "has never been higher."

Headcount set to double as client list expands

Junestrand said the company aims to expand its global workforce from 650 employees to about 1,500 by the end of the year. A person familiar with Legora's financials told the FT that the company prices its services at an average of roughly US$100,000 a year. This month, Legora announced launches in Madrid, Milan, and Paris in the third quarter, along with a London engineering hub that will hire 700 employees across EMEA over the next 6 to 12 months.

Asia-Pacific push targets record M&A activity

Last month, Legora opened offices in Singapore and Tokyo. Junestrand said the conditions in Asia-Pacific make this the right moment to commit fully, citing record M&A volumes in Japan, Singapore's role as an arbitration and deal hub, and a legal services market that rivals the EU in scale. "We see a significant opportunity, and we intend to lead in it," he said.

VP revenue APAC Heather Paterson explained the city choices: Japan is among the world's largest legal services markets by revenue, while Singapore hosts regional headquarters for Magic Circle firms, major US firms, and the Singapore International Arbitration Centre. Paterson added that the combined legal services fee pool in APAC rivals that of the EU, and cross-border work between the region and EMEA and the US runs through corridors Legora already covers. "For the first time, we can say we're truly global in the way our clients are," she said. Legora also formed an alliance with InfoTrack in Australia to integrate its platform with certain InfoTrack services.

Why this matters for legal professionals

Legora's rapid growth and six-figure price point indicate that large firms and corporate legal departments are making substantial financial commitments to AI platforms. The company's expansion into key arbitration and M&A hubs-Singapore, Tokyo, Paris, Madrid, Milan-reflects a market where cross-border legal work increasingly depends on AI tools for efficiency. For practitioners, the message is clear: AI is moving from experimental to operational in high-value legal work, and firms that delay evaluating such platforms risk falling behind competitors who are already integrating them into daily workflows.
