LG CNS completes 30-megawatt AI data center in Jakarta
LG CNS built a 30-megawatt AI data center in Jakarta for KMG, the first by a Korean firm for an overseas client. The site could scale to 400 megawatts, more than thirteen times its initial capacity.

LG CNS, the IT services arm of LG Group, said Monday it finished building a 30-megawatt AI data center in Jakarta for KMG, a joint venture between Indonesia's Sinar Mas Group and Korea Investment Real Asset Management. LG CNS called it the first time a South Korean company has built an AI data center for an overseas client. The project puts Korean construction and systems expertise into one of Southeast Asia's fastest-growing compute markets, and the client is already weighing a build-out far larger than the first phase.
The Jakarta facility is designed for high-performance computing on next-generation graphics processing units. LG CNS said it is preparing to scale the site so total power capacity could reach up to 400 megawatts, more than thirteen times the initial 30 megawatts.
What the build means for project teams
AI data centers carry power and cooling loads well beyond conventional enterprise facilities, and the Jakarta project reflects that. LG CNS said it plans to add liquid cooling infrastructure to its portfolio alongside the buildings themselves, a shift that changes mechanical, electrical and plumbing scopes on future jobs.
The company also plans to sell subscription-based GPU services and move into the AI factory sector, where compute capacity is packaged with the facility that houses it. For owners and contractors, that means the line between a real estate project and a technology service is thinning. Firms weighing how to staff and plan for these builds can look at AI Strategy for IT Managers for grounding on the infrastructure side.
Where LG CNS goes next
With Jakarta complete, LG CNS said it will take its AI data center business to Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Japan. Each market brings its own power availability, land costs and permitting timelines, the variables that decide whether a 30-megawatt design can grow into a 400-megawatt campus.
The company has not disclosed contract values or construction timelines for the expansion markets.
Why this matters for hospitality, events, operations and real estate teams
Large AI data centers compete directly for power, land and skilled trades in the markets where hotels, venues and commercial developments are also being built. A 400-megawatt ambition in Jakarta signals that utilities and grid operators in Southeast Asia will face sustained demand from compute projects, which can affect connection timelines and energy pricing for nearby properties. If your pipeline includes Indonesia or the other markets LG CNS named, check early whether local grid capacity and cooling infrastructure can support both your project and the data center build-out. Owners negotiating leases or construction contracts should also expect liquid cooling and high-density power provisions to become standard asks from anchor tenants in the years ahead.
