Mathew Raises €1.2M to Expand AI Education Platform in Latin America
Mathew, a Barcelona-based edtech startup, closed a €1.2 million seed round to accelerate expansion into Mexico and Latin America. Encomenda returned as an investor, joined by new backer Decelera.
The company has tripled revenue since its 2023 launch and projects another tripling in 2026. CEO Alan Fusté attributed the growth to demand for AI-driven assessment and learning tools across educational institutions.
Mathew already works with over 100 institutions in Spain and has partnered with Ceneval, Latin America's largest standardized testing organization. The platform handles assessment, academic management, and personalized learning for schools and universities.
Marcos Martín, Decelera's CEO, and Javier Darriba, a partner at Encomenda, both cited AI's role in modernizing how schools teach and evaluate students as central to their investment decision. The focus reflects growing institutional interest in automating administrative tasks and tailoring instruction to individual learners.
For educators evaluating new tools, understanding how AI for Education platforms integrate with existing systems matters. Teachers considering how to work alongside these tools may find value in an AI Learning Path for Teachers.
