Oslo-based AI startup Mimir has raised a $600,000 pre-seed round to expand its AI-native platform that automates customer support and operational workflows for e-commerce brands. The platform already handles 250,000 customer conversations each month for about 60 brands across five countries, including VILLOID, HiFi Klubben, and Holzweiler. The funding, led by Sondo Capital, will accelerate product development and help the team double in size.
What the platform handles
Mimir built its platform from the ground up for B2C e-commerce, rather than adding AI on top of existing helpdesk software. The system understands orders, deliveries, returns, and product details, and can resolve these inquiries without human intervention. For customer support teams, routine tasks like tracking orders, managing returns, and answering product questions are handled automatically-a practical use of AI for Customer Support that keeps response times low around the clock.
The platform currently serves approximately 60 brands and has processed a quarter of a million conversations monthly. It is tailored to each brand's existing systems and workflows, helping teams deliver fast, high-quality support at scale.
The funding round
The $600,000 pre-seed investment was led by Sondo Capital, an Oslo-based venture capital firm focused on early-stage technology companies. The round also included angel investors from the Nordic tech and e-commerce scenes, such as operators and founders from VILLOID, Kry, Enode, and Whitson.
"We truly believe that customer service and e-commerce operations as we know it will be dramatically changed with AI," said Henrik Hatlebrekke, General Partner and Co-Founder at Sondo Capital. "The Mimir team embodies exactly what we're looking for; technically strong founders that combine a great product with a real market pull in a massive market."
Moving beyond customer support
Mimir sees customer support as the entry point. The company plans to apply its AI Agents & Automation approach to other operational workflows that slow e-commerce teams down. "Customer support is only the starting point," said JΓΈrgen Vartdal Halse, CEO and Co-Founder of Mimir. "Our vision is to automate the operational work that slows e-commerce teams down, while giving consumers instant, personalized help around the clock. This funding round allows us to further accelerate product development, double the team, and save more time and money for e-commerce brands."
Why this matters for customer support professionals
As AI-native platforms like Mimir gain traction, the role of a customer support agent is shifting. Routine, repetitive queries that once filled an agent's day are increasingly handled by automated systems that can operate 24/7 without fatigue. The 250,000 conversations Mimir manages each month demonstrate that these systems handle volume reliably.
For professionals in customer support, this doesn't mean the end of the job. It means the job will focus more on handling complex cases, improving the AI's performance, and analyzing the data these systems generate. Familiarity with how AI tools can automate workflows and a willingness to oversee and refine them will become a key part of the skillset. The fast-growing adoption of such tools in e-commerce suggests that those who adapt early will be in high demand.
