Novo Nordisk and Anthropic announced a partnership on September 16 to deploy the AI developer's Claude Science platform within the Danish pharmaceutical company's R&D workflows. The collaboration targets faster drug discovery and software development as Novo Nordisk races to offset looming patent expirations on blockbuster drugs Ozempic and Wegovy, which face generic competition in the early 2030s.
Two pillars of the partnership
The agreement rests on a pilot of Claude Science, an AI platform Anthropic offers for scientific research. Novo Nordisk scientists and computational science teams will apply it to biological reasoning workflows, with validation focused on areas where both companies expect the greatest combined impact.
