Anthropic's enterprise AI services firm, Ode with Anthropic, has selected PointClickCare as its first senior care platform partner, embedding Anthropic's AI models directly into the elder care software company's platform to reduce administrative burden and improve clinical workflows.
The partnership targets PointClickCare's long-term and post-acute care market, where staff handle some of the most documentation-heavy work in healthcare. Ode with Anthropic will build AI systems that integrate directly into PointClickCare's existing cloud platform rather than requiring clinicians to use separate tools.
What Ode with Anthropic does
Ode with Anthropic launched in July as a standalone company backed by Anthropic, Blackstone, and Hellman & Friedman, with additional investment from Goldman Sachs, General Atlantic, Leonard Green & Partners, Apollo Global Management, GIC, and Sequoia Capital. The firm pairs Anthropic's frontier models with AI engineers to identify where AI can have the most impact for enterprise organizations and build systems tailored to their needs.
The AI systems under development for PointClickCare will follow Ode's responsible AI principles and PointClickCare's clinician-in-the-loop approach, meaning AI handles administrative tasks while clinicians retain oversight of patient care decisions.
"PointClickCare is an ideal partner for Ode: an industry leader with deep domain expertise, taking on some of the hardest administrative workflows in healthcare," Chris Taylor, CEO of Ode with Anthropic, said in a statement. "Together, we are embedding high-impact AI capabilities directly into PointClickCare's platform, along with the evaluation, observability and governance to run them at scale."
Model safeguards and healthcare access
The partnership comes as Anthropic adjusts safeguards on its latest frontier models to accommodate legitimate healthcare queries. In June, the company released its fifth-generation model Claude Fable 5, which it said exceeds the capabilities of any generally available model. Because of potential risks in biology, chemistry, and cybersecurity, Anthropic routed certain queries to its lower-capability Claude Opus 4.8 model.
Earlier this month, Anthropic updated Fable 5's biology safeguards, reducing unnecessary fallbacks to the weaker model by roughly 85%. The changes let Fable 5 respond to everyday health questions and clinical tasks while still restricting dangerous requests in virology, toxicology, and molecular design.
"We knew this would be frustrating for legitimate biology users," the company said. "Nevertheless, we chose to make this tradeoff because the cost of Fable being misused in a dual-use domain like biology could potentially be catastrophic."
Anthropic said it is developing trusted-access pathways so researchers could eventually use its most capable frontier biology models. For IT and development teams working in healthcare, the shift matters: Anthropic is expanding what its models can handle in clinical settings, and the PointClickCare deployment is an early test of how those models perform in production. Teams evaluating Claude AI training or planning AI for Healthcare integrations should watch how the company's safeguard changes affect which queries their applications can process.
Why this matters for IT and development teams
For developers building on Anthropic's models, the PointClickCare partnership demonstrates a working blueprint for enterprise AI deployment: embed models directly into existing software, keep humans in the loop for high-stakes decisions, and maintain observability and governance from day one. The safeguard adjustments also signal that Anthropic is actively tuning its models for legitimate healthcare use cases, which could expand what your applications can do without requiring workarounds.
