Perplexity launches persistent AI agents called Teammates for Max subscribers
Perplexity launched Teammates, persistent AI agents for Max subscribers at $200 per month that handle ongoing tasks from a high-level goal. These agents remember past sessions and learn from corrections, triaging bugs, running QA loops, and monitoring Slack channels without re-prompting.

Perplexity launched Teammates on Thursday, persistent AI agents that handle ongoing work from a high-level goal. The feature is available first to Max subscribers on the web, with native mobile and desktop apps coming later.
How Teammates differ from previous Perplexity agents
In February, Perplexity released Computer, a multi-model agent that ran in temporary sandbox sessions. Those workspaces vanished after each job. Teammates stick around. CEO Aravind Srinivas described them as "persistent coworkers that take over responsibilities and get tasks done end to end." They already have access to your Projects, Memory, Skills, connectors, files, and past sessions inside Perplexity.
Perplexity's examples cover marketing, sales, support, and operations. Teammates can triage bugs, run QA loops, monitor security, analyze data, and manage A/B tests. They also learn from mistakes and feedback. In one demo, an ads teammate spotted creator ads beating the customer acquisition cost target, prepped a larger campaign, and sent a contract extension to the legal team. The brand director then told it to repeat that action automatically going forward.
How teams interact with these agents
You can add a teammate to a Slack channel. Coworkers hand it work while it watches the channel and acts when something changes, based on how it's programmed. Each agent runs in its own environment. You can review its work, take over its desktop, or redirect it.
Srinivas said agents need more than a frontier model. "Agents need to remember you and the org, learn to work with each other and with your coworkers, run on their own, and get better every time you correct them. Teammates is our first step toward that."
Pricing and competitive landscape
Teammates require a Max subscription, which costs $200 per month. Free and Pro users must upgrade to access the feature. Native mobile and desktop apps are in development.
The agent space is crowded. OpenAI's workspace agents, Microsoft's Copilot Cowork, Grok Bot, and Anthropic's Claude Cowork all chase the same idea. The first two target organizations rather than individual subscribers, which sets Perplexity's approach apart for now.
Why this matters for customer support and operations teams
For support and ops professionals, persistent agents that remember past sessions and learn from corrections could reduce repetitive triage work. A teammate that monitors a Slack channel, flags bugs, and runs QA loops without being re-prompted each time shifts the workflow from session-based prompting to delegated oversight. The $200 monthly price puts it within reach for individual contributors and small teams, not just enterprise departments. Professionals looking to build skills with agent-based workflows can find relevant training through AI Agent Courses and AI Productivity Courses.
