Sapiens launches AI-native insurance platform SapiensAIP

Sapiens International has launched an AI-native insurance platform that embeds autonomous agents directly into core policy, billing, and claims systems, moving carriers from isolated AI experiments to production workflows. The Sapiens Autonomous Insurance Platform (SapiensAIP), announced September 14, 2026, sits on top of the company's existing SaaS-based insurance products and is already being tested by third-party administrators like Continental General.

Three layers built for insurance decision-making

SapiensAIP is structured across three layers. An experience layer adapts to different user personas, while an intelligence layer runs automated, agent-driven processes for underwriting, policy administration, billing, claims, and customer engagement. Beneath both sits a foundation layer drawing on four decades of accumulated insurance industry knowledge from Sapiens.

That foundation gives each AI agent enough context to make decisions the way an experienced insurer would. It also powers two purpose-built hubs - one for data migration and one for system configuration - that convert requirements and legacy files into scripts and data extracts ready to run. Mapping can be checked and reversed, cutting manual work while keeping a human in the loop for oversight.

Migration Hub targets M&A and core system overhauls

The SapiensAIP Migration Hub uses groups of AI agents to handle profiling, mapping, validation, and extraction of data, aiming to speed up core system transformations that have traditionally dragged on - including during mergers and acquisitions. Legacy files can be fed into the system in their original form, removing the need for reformatting beforehand.

The Migration Hub's AI proposes how existing data should map to the new environment and attaches a confidence score for subject matter experts to review. This keeps oversight with the people who know the business, rather than handing the entire process to automation.

Configuration Hub automates document-to-system mapping

The SapiensAIP Configuration Hub reads documents in any format and maps them automatically to the correct fields, taking over configuration work that has historically slowed projects down. Its confidence scoring lets teams check and sign off on changes, with every step recorded for audit purposes.

Sapiens executive chairman and interim CEO Mike Ettling said, "The AI future we have been talking about is here. The architecture behind SapiensAIP is the clearest expression yet of what Sapiens has become: the global insurance technology champion built to power the modern autonomous insurer of tomorrow, with a continuously improving layer of intelligence. This is an advantage no legacy architecture retrofitted with AI can match."

Early testing with a multi-carrier administrator

Continental General, a third-party administrator serving multiple carrier clients, is putting both hubs to work. Chief transformation officer Ayanna Burns said, "SapiensAIP represents the kind of platform direction we want from our technology partners - AI that's embedded in the core system, not bolted on. As a third-party administrator serving multiple carrier clients, Continental General needs tooling that can scale across programs and compress the timeline from contract to production. We're putting the Configuration Hub and Migration Hub to work against real workflows, and the early direction is promising."

Sapiens currently serves more than 600 insurers across upwards of 30 countries. Its platform supports agentic workflows for policy, underwriting, claims, reinsurance, decisioning, finance, and compliance functions.

Why this matters for insurance professionals

SapiensAIP signals a shift in how core system vendors are packaging AI - not as a separate module or add-on, but as infrastructure that sits inside the systems carriers already use. For insurance operations and transformation teams, the immediate test is whether agent-driven migration and configuration can shrink the months-long timelines that have made system upgrades and M&A integrations expensive. The confidence scoring approach also matters: it gives underwriters, claims managers, and compliance leads a concrete mechanism to review AI proposals before they go live, rather than trusting a black box.

For professionals working in AI for Insurance, this platform reflects the broader industry move toward AI Agents & Automation embedded in production systems, raising the bar for what carriers should expect from their technology partners.
