SEI Names Three AI Leaders as Wealth Firms Build Out Technology Structures

SEI appointed three senior executives to oversee artificial intelligence and data strategy on Tuesday, signaling how wealth management and financial services firms are moving beyond pilot programs to establish formal leadership structures around AI.

Sneha Shah becomes chief AI strategist while retaining her role leading SEI Next, the firm's innovation division. She will evaluate where SEI should build, acquire, or partner for AI capabilities and serve as the public face of the company's AI efforts.

Michael Tryinszewski was named head of AI orchestration, responsible for deploying AI across operations and risk management. William Coffey took the title of chief data officer, overseeing data strategy, governance, and monetization.

The structure separates strategy, implementation, and data management into distinct functions rather than concentrating responsibility in a single role. This approach reflects how larger financial institutions are organizing around AI as the technology moves from experimental to operational.

CEO Ryan Hicke said in a statement that "AI is no longer optional," describing it as a strategic driver of growth and innovation across financial services.

The appointments arrived as SEI, a financial technology and asset management firm, also named Barry Frame head of international private banking and wealth management services. Frame previously held senior roles at Avaloq and Temenos, both of which provide technology platforms to banks and wealth managers.

The dual announcements suggest SEI is investing simultaneously in the technology infrastructure expected to define wealth management and the executives responsible for client expansion. AI for Executives & Strategy professionals overseeing similar transitions can benefit from understanding how established firms structure these leadership changes.

For finance professionals implementing AI across their organizations, AI for Finance resources provide frameworks for governance, data management, and deployment similar to those SEI is formalizing.
