Springer-Miller Systems has integrated its SMS|Host hospitality management system with the FreedomPay Commerce Platform, a move that brings PCI-validated payment security and unified transaction processing to hotels running the property management software. The companies announced the partnership on April 6, 2017, targeting properties that want to accept payments across front desk, restaurants, spa, valet, and online channels without managing separate payment systems.

SMS|Host users gain access to FreedomPay's point-to-point encryption and tokenization technologies, which remove card data from the property's payment environment. That changes the compliance burden for hotel operators, who typically carry responsibility for protecting guest payment data across multiple service points.

What the integration changes

The system embeds payment processing directly into the PMS workflow, so staff process transactions from the same interface they already use. Guests can pay with mobile wallets or loyalty points, and front-desk teams can handle check-in and checkout faster without handling physical cards or entering payment details into separate terminals.

For operators, the combined platform produces centralized reporting and real-time transaction data. That gives a property a single view of guest spending across restaurants, spa services, and room charges, which is useful for building guest profiles and adjusting service delivery in the moment.

Dynamic currency conversion is also included, which benefits properties serving international guests by applying exchange rates at the point of payment.

Security and compliance gains

Payment data never touches the hotel's PMS directly, reducing the compliance requirements a property has to manage. The combination of P2PE and tokenization also lowers fraud risk because the original card data is replaced with tokens that have no usable value if intercepted.

Technologists working in hospitality and events should note that this is a multi-site sales architecture already proven in higher-volume retail environments. When you are responsible for event venues, resort groupings, or properties with multiple F&B outlets, this kind of centralized exception reporting matters.

Why this matters for hospitality and event professionals

For hotel and venue operators who have always evaluated PMS vendors or negotiated payment processing contracts: the FreedomPay integration removes a historical point of friction. You no longer have to choose between secure payments and fast guest-facing service, because both sit in the same approvals. When you negotiate your next PMS or event booking system upgrade for your property, ask suppliers directly whether card data ever touches their servers - that makes or breaks your PCI compliance scope.
