Leading educationists called on teachers to stop fearing artificial intelligence and start using it to elevate their classroom role, during the 4th STTAR Global Education Conference held at Seth Anandram Jaipuria School in Ghaziabad. The message was direct: AI will not replace teachers, but teachers who use AI effectively will replace those who do not.
Padma Shri awardee Dinesh Singh, former vice chancellor of Delhi University and Chancellor of K R Mangalam University, delivered the sharpest challenge to the assembled educators. "Stop being a mundane teacher. Use AI to elevate yourself to the level of a guru," Singh said. He urged teachers to shed their inhibitions and admit when they do not know something, rather than letting ego block their growth.
A conference built around human-machine collaboration
Organised by Saamarthya Teachers Training Academy of Research (STTAR), the daylong conference drew education leaders, policymakers, academics, technology experts, and career counsellors from across India. The theme - "Leveraging Human Intelligence in the Era of AI" - framed the conversation around adaptation, not alarm.
Shishir Jaipuria, chairman of Jaipuria Group of Educational Institutions, told attendees that the future belongs to professionals who learn to work alongside machines. "The future is not going to be about human competition with machines. It belongs to humans who know how to work with machines," Jaipuria said. He argued that while technology can accelerate learning, only teachers can inspire it - and that distinction demands institutions rethink what they value.
Singh received the "Shiksha Garima Puraskar" during the inaugural ceremony, an award recognizing his contributions to Indian education.
