São Paulo-based Telepatia, an AI platform designed for healthcare systems, has raised $33 million in Series A funding. Andreessen Horowitz led the round, with participation from Palantir CTO Shyam Sankar, Rappi founder Simón Borrero, and Nubank founder David Vélez. The company deploys AI documentation tools, clinical decision support, and a suite of AI healthcare employees - including AI doctors, nurses, and auditors - across hospital systems in Latin America.
The platform trains its models on peer-reviewed literature, clinical guidelines, and local institutional protocols specific to the region. Since launching in 2025, Telepatia has deployed across more than 25 hospital systems, reaching 14 million patients. According to Daisy Wolf, partner at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) Health Investing, the technology improved protocol adherence from 84% to 99% and helped prevent 60,000 medical errors in real time.

Telepatia's offering goes beyond basic documentation. The platform provides clinical decision support and a range of AI Agents & Automation roles that function as AI doctors, nurses, and auditors. These systems are built to operate within the specific regulatory and clinical frameworks of Latin American healthcare institutions. The new capital will fund further development of these AI employees and expand the company's reach across the region.
Funding and market context
The Series A follows a $9 million seed round last year led by A-Star, with participation from Abstract, Canary, SV Angel, Picus, Nido, and other angel investors. The investment arrives as governments across Latin America are formalizing AI for Healthcare strategies. Brazil launched its multibillion-dollar Brazilian Artificial Intelligence Plan (PBIA) 2024-2028, which includes seven impact actions for modernizing the health system - from implementing spoken medical records in the unified health system to using AI for medication purchasing decisions and improving elderly care.
In a separate move, El Salvador's government expanded its AI-enabled DoctorSV platform in April. Built with Google's Gemini technology, the platform now supports chronic disease management and virtual consultations.
