Trust Bank launches AI tool that answers customer finance questions in conversation

Trust Bank launched Trust AI Ask on 8 September 2026, a conversational feature that lets customers query their own transaction data in plain language. The tool targets a persistent friction point in digital banking: the manual slog of scrolling through statements to find a single payment.

The Singapore-based digital bank confirmed the assistant will only use a specific customer's transaction information to answer their question. "We've built Trust AI Ask with security and privacy at its core, with multiple safeguards in place to protect personal information and filter sensitive data," Trust said in a statement.

How the first phase works

The initial rollout concentrates on card spend retrieval. Customers can verify payments, locate transactions, and check spending within seconds. The bank said the feature eliminates the need to manually review transactions, scroll through months of history, or apply filters.

This narrow scope is deliberate. By limiting the assistant to a defined dataset, Trust reduces the risk of hallucination that plagues general-purpose chatbots when asked about financial records.

Expansion plans and recent growth

Trust sees room to extend Trust AI Ask into broader banking functions. The bank said future phases could help customers access information, understand their finances, and receive personalised insights. No timeline was provided for these additions.

The launch follows a period of product development at the digital bank. Earlier in 2026, Trust became the first digital bank in Singapore to offer fractional trading. It crossed the 1 million customer mark in February 2025.

Why this matters for finance professionals

Trust AI Ask signals how retail banks are beginning to deploy generative AI within tightly governed data boundaries. For treasury, FP&A, and corporate finance teams, the approach offers a template: conversational querying of structured financial data, with guardrails that restrict the model to a specific, permissioned dataset. The same architecture could reshape how internal finance tools surface answers to cash position questions or policy queries without requiring users to navigate reporting interfaces.
