US Navy Orders Personnel to Replace AI With 'Super Intelligence'

The US Navy has directed its personnel to replace references to artificial intelligence with the term “super intelligence” in official materials. The change applies to the language used in communications and documentation across relevant commands.

Language choices in government messaging can reshape public expectations, influence procurement narratives, and alter the framing of risk communication. The directive illustrates how terminology shifts can occur even when the underlying technical capabilities remain unchanged.
