Workday and Google Cloud integrate AI agents into HR and finance workflows

Workday and Google Cloud have partnered to embed AI agents directly into enterprise HR and finance applications. The integration combines Workday's agent system with Google Cloud's Gemini models, allowing employees and managers to handle routine tasks through conversational AI without leaving their familiar work environments.

Workday's Sana self-service agent is now integrated into Gemini Enterprise. Finance teams can query expense policies, check corporate card eligibility, and complete other routine tasks in a single conversation. Employees can check time-off balances, update personal information, and request leave. Managers can approve timesheets in bulk and start performance reviews.

Gemini is now the default AI model inside Sana. A deeper connection between Gemini and the Workday Data Cloud means companies can act on HR and finance work without data leaving Workday's secure environment.

The Sana agent is available on Google Cloud's Agent Marketplace, with more Workday agents expected later this year. The partnership extends beyond individual agents-Gemini and Google Cloud will underpin critical workflows across HR and finance departments globally.

For finance professionals, the shift addresses a practical need: automating expense approvals, policy lookups, and reporting tasks frees time for analysis and strategic work. The integration removes friction from routine queries that currently require navigating multiple systems or contacting support.

The partnership reflects a broader move toward agents that operate within existing business applications rather than as separate tools. Finance teams already using Workday can access these capabilities without new platforms or training.
