Year13 Expands AI Leadership with Former Atlassian Executives

Australian edtech platform Year13 has appointed several former Atlassian executives to senior roles as part of its move to become a fully AI-native company and grow internationally. This strategic shift targets enhanced digital education solutions for youth transitioning from school to work.

Strengthening Operations and AI Integration

Pirow Cronje has joined Year13 as Head of Operations. With a decade of experience at Atlassian, including roles in financial planning, product strategy, and customer analytics, Cronje brings valuable expertise. He played a key role in Atlassian’s IPO preparations and go-to-market planning. At Year13, Cronje will lead operational efforts and oversee the integration of AI technologies across the company’s platforms.

Building an AI-Native Platform

Year13 is advancing initiatives to support young people with life after school, central to which is the launch of Career Coach. This AI-powered tool provides personalised career guidance by analysing individual data alongside labour market trends. Developed with Microsoft and piloted in North Carolina, Career Coach is set for rollout across Australia and international markets in 2025.

The platform’s AI capabilities are further enhanced through collaboration with Microsoft and KPMG on the AI Amplified program. This initiative introduces students to emerging technologies such as large language models, preparing them for future opportunities.

AI Amplified Program Progress

Since its launch, over 10,000 learning modules have been completed within the AI Amplified program. Year13 aims to reach 50,000 completions this year, reflecting strong engagement and demand for AI-focused education content.
