Zone & Co today announced the AP Intelligence Agent, a new AI tool that automates the manual investigation work behind accounts payable. Built on live ERP data, the agent traces bills, reconciles suppliers, and surfaces exposure risks. It will begin rolling out globally in August 2026 for customers using ZoneCapture and/or ZoneApprovals with Zone Control Center.
The challenge for finance teams is no longer processing accounts payable. It is directing it. Leaders need to know where approvals are stalling, where duplicate bills or vendors have slipped through, and where purchasing policy has been bypassed. Answering those questions has traditionally required hours of manual work across dashboards, saved searches, reports, and spreadsheets.
The shift from processing to directing AP
The AP Intelligence Agent operates on trusted data from ZoneCapture and ZoneApprovals, working strictly within existing ERP permissions. It detects duplicate bill and vendor exposure, identifies where approvals are stalling, and traces the full lifecycle of a bill from purchase request through payment. Every finding comes with the underlying data trail attached, so teams can act with confidence while maintaining strong controls.

Expanding the agent portfolio
The AP Intelligence Agent is the latest addition to Zone's portfolio of AI Agents & Automation, following the Subscription Intelligence Agent and the introduction of Zone Control Center earlier this year. It extends Zoe's capabilities across the procure-to-pay lifecycle, doing the analytical work that once fell to finance teams, directly on the data of record they already trust.
Future enhancements will introduce customer-defined AI customization, scheduled AI tasks, and additional AI Agents. Zone aims to continue expanding Zoe as the agentic orchestration layer that turns the ERP from a system of record into a system of agency.
