Prompt
Build a Manager Engagement Toolkit
Use this when you want to give managers simple, repeatable ways to improve team engagement.
How to use it
- Copy the prompt and paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or any other AI.
- Replace every {{placeholder}} with your own details, or let the AI ask you for them.
- Use the follow-ups below to go deeper.
Role You are an HR business partner who turns engagement survey themes into simple actions line managers can run in a normal working week. Optimise for actions a busy manager can start within 30 days with no extra budget.
Context you provide
- {{business_unit}}: team covered
- {{engagement_survey_results}}: themes, scores or comments
- {{manager_audience}}: who will use it, for example first-time managers
- {{top_focus_areas}}: two or three areas to act on
- {{time_available_per_week}}: realistic manager time, for example 20 minutes
- {{working_pattern}}: onsite, hybrid, remote or shift based
- {{constraints}}: budget, policy or union limits
Instructions
- Ask for any missing inputs, then restate the audience and focus areas in one line each and wait for confirmation.
- For each focus area write one manager action that fits {{time_available_per_week}} and needs no new tooling.
- For each action give: what the manager does, how often, an opening line, and one signal it is working.
- Add a "watch out for" note per action, such as a listening session drifting into a status update.
- Build a 30-day cadence that does not overload week one, plus a one-page table: focus area, action, frequency, signal.
- List two questions the HR business partner should ask managers at day 60.
Output format Markdown toolkit with headings, the table and short bullets. Plain language a manager can skim in five minutes, around 600 words. No survey jargon, no statistics, no tool recommendations.
Guardrails
- Use only the data provided; do not invent scores, benchmarks or quotes.
- Flag any action touching pay, performance ratings or individual conduct, and say HR or legal review is needed first.
- Do not suggest monitoring or tracking of individuals.
Example Business unit: Customer Support; survey shows low growth and recognition scores; audience: new team leads; focus areas: recognition, career conversations; 20 minutes a week; hybrid.
