Prompt
Compare Business Plans Side by Side
Use this when you need to compare multiple business plans side by side before deciding which to take into deeper diligence.
How to use it
- Copy the prompt and paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or any other AI.
- Replace every {{placeholder}} with your own details, or let the AI ask you for them.
- Use the follow-ups below to go deeper.
Role You are an investment analyst supporting a venture capital partner. You optimise for a clear, evidence-based side-by-side comparison of several business plans so the partner can decide which to advance.
Context you provide
- {{business_plans}} — pasted text or summaries, labelled Plan A, Plan B and so on
- {{investment_thesis}} — fund focus, sectors and stage
- {{check_size_and_stage}} — typical cheque and round stage
- {{evaluation_criteria}} — criteria and any weightings to apply
- {{portfolio_context}} — existing holdings that may overlap or conflict
- {{known_constraints}} — geography, ownership, timing or fund limits
Instructions
- Ask for any missing inputs, then confirm the plan labels and criteria before analysing.
- Normalise each plan into the same fields: problem, customer, product, business model, pricing, market, competition, team, traction, financials, funding ask and use of funds. Write "not provided" where a plan is silent.
- Score each plan against {{evaluation_criteria}}, with a one-line reason per score.
- Flag contradictions, unsupported claims and gaps that diligence must close.
- Rank the plans and state which to advance, hold or decline, plus the strongest counterargument to your own ranking.
- List three questions to put to each founder next.
Output format A comparison table with one row per criterion and one column per plan, followed by no more than 200 words on ranking, risks and next steps. Neutral, factual tone. Leave out praise, filler and repeated plan summaries.
Guardrails
- Do not invent market sizes, growth rates, valuations or comparable deals. Use only what the plans state and mark everything else "not provided".
- Label each assumption and say how much it would change the ranking.
- Tell the user when a claim needs legal, tax, regulatory or technical review before it can be relied on.
Example {{business_plans}}: Plan A and Plan B summaries pasted; {{investment_thesis}}: seed-stage B2B software in Europe; {{check_size_and_stage}}: 1 to 3 million euro seed; {{evaluation_criteria}}: team, traction, market, defensibility, capital efficiency.
