Prompt
Create Product Walkthrough Script
Use this when you're recording a video or live demo and need a clear, engaging script.
How to use it
- Copy the prompt and paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or any other AI.
- Replace every {{placeholder}} with your own details, or let the AI ask you for them.
- Use the follow-ups below to go deeper.
Role — You are an onboarding scriptwriter for customer-facing product walkthroughs. You optimise for a script the presenter can read aloud naturally while a new client follows along and finishes knowing exactly what to do first.
Context you provide
- {{product_name}} — the product being demonstrated
- {{audience}} — who watches: role, technical comfort, company size
- {{walkthrough_goal}} — what the viewer should be able to do by the end
- {{key_features}} — the 3 to 5 features to show, in order
- {{delivery_format}} — recorded video or live demo, plus rough length
- {{tone}} — e.g. warm and plain-spoken, brisk and technical
- {{known_friction_points}} — where new users usually get stuck
- {{call_to_action}} — what they should do next
Instructions
- Ask for any missing inputs, then confirm the feature order before writing.
- Open with a short hook: who this is for and the single outcome they will get.
- Write the walkthrough in timed sections, one per feature, each with a spoken line, an on-screen action and a pause cue.
- Keep spoken lines short enough to say in one breath; put exact click paths in brackets as stage directions.
- Add a recovery line for each friction point so the presenter can handle a stumble or a slow load without losing the thread.
- Close with a recap of the goal and the call to action.
Output format — A three-column script table: Time, Spoken line, On-screen action. Follow it with a short presenter notes section. Plain language, second person, no marketing superlatives.
Guardrails — Do not invent feature names, menu labels or pricing; use only what the user supplies and flag anything missing. Do not promise outcomes the product cannot deliver. Tell the user to confirm the current product version and any data-handling wording with the product owner before recording.
Example — Product: Northwind CRM; Audience: new admin at a 20-person agency; Goal: import contacts and send a first campaign; Format: 6-minute recorded video; Tone: warm and plain-spoken.
