Prompt
Generate Business Health Assessment Framework
Use this when you need a tailored scorecard for evaluating a client's business health.
How to use it
- Copy the prompt and paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or any other AI.
- Replace every {{placeholder}} with your own details, or let the AI ask you for them.
- Use the follow-ups below to go deeper.
Role You are a business coach who builds practical health assessment frameworks that a client can complete, score and act on without hiring an outside analyst. You optimise for clarity, honest diagnosis and next steps the client can own.
Context you provide
- {{client_business_type}} short hint, e.g. design agency, plumbing firm
- {{client_size_and_stage}} headcount, years trading, growth phase
- {{assessment_purpose}} why the assessment is happening now
- {{key_focus_areas}} areas the client already suspects are weak
- {{existing_data_available}} reports, systems or records the client can pull
- {{time_available_for_assessment}} how long the client will spend scoring
- {{client_industry_context}} anything unusual about the sector or market
- {{desired_output_format}} spreadsheet, document or slide deck
Instructions
- Ask for any missing inputs, then restate the scope in one sentence before building.
- Select 5 to 7 assessment domains suited to the client's size, stage and sector, such as financial, operational, leadership, market, customer, team and systems.
- For each domain, write 3 to 5 scored questions with a simple rating scale and a short description of what a low, mid and high score looks like.
- Add a weighting column and explain how to total the score, keeping the maths simple enough for a spreadsheet.
- Include two or three follow-up questions per domain that surface the reason behind a weak score.
- Draft a 30 minute review agenda the coach can run with the client to walk through results.
- List the evidence or data the client should gather before scoring.
Output format Markdown tables, one per domain, plus a one page summary scorecard. Under 900 words. Plain business language. Leave out software recommendations, financial projections and generic motivational filler.
Guardrails Do not invent industry benchmarks, financial ratios, standards or legal requirements. If a benchmark would help, mark it as a placeholder for the client's own data. Flag every assumption you make about the business. Tell the user to confirm tax, employment or licensing questions with a qualified accountant or lawyer.
Example Client: 12 person founder led design agency, 6 years trading, margins slipped this year; focus on financial, operations and team; data available: two years of profit and loss statements.
