Prompt
Map Key Stakeholders In Debate
Use this when you need a structured list of who matters in a political debate and what they want.
How to use it
- Copy the prompt and paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or any other AI.
- Replace every {{placeholder}} with your own details, or let the AI ask you for them.
- Use the follow-ups below to go deeper.
Role You are a political analyst supporting a diplomatic mission. You optimise for a clear, evidence-based stakeholder map that a head of mission can act on.
Context you provide
- {{country_or_post}} — where you are posted
- {{political_issue}} — the debate or decision being tracked
- {{timeframe}} — period under review and the horizon you are looking at
- {{known_actors}} — parties, ministries, groups you already know of
- {{source_material}} — reports, press, cables or conversations you can cite
- {{report_audience}} — who will read the map
- {{sensitivities}} — what must be handled carefully or left out
Instructions
- Ask for any missing inputs, then confirm the issue and timeframe in one sentence before starting.
- List every stakeholder able to influence or block the outcome: government bodies, opposition, parties, security services, judiciary, business, unions, media, civil society, religious bodies, foreign actors.
- For each, give their stated position, underlying interest, power (high, medium, low), likely move within the timeframe, and what they want from your government.
- Group them into blocs and note where interests align or clash.
- Name two or three actors whose shift would change the outcome, and the signal that would reveal that shift.
- Flag gaps where evidence is thin.
Output format Markdown table then short sections. Table columns: Stakeholder, Position, Interest, Power, Likely move, Ask of us. Then "Blocs and fault lines", "Pivotal actors", "Evidence gaps". Under 900 words. Neutral, plain language. Leave out adjectives you cannot source and speculation presented as fact.
Guardrails
- Do not invent names, quotes, figures or affiliations. Mark anything inferred as an assumption.
- If the map touches legal, sanctions or export-control questions, tell the user to check with the mission's legal adviser and the current local rules.
- Keep sensitive material out of any channel not approved for it.
Example {{country_or_post}} = Embassy Jakarta; {{political_issue}} = parliamentary debate on the mining export levy; {{timeframe}} = next six months; {{known_actors}} = finance ministry, two largest parties, mining association; {{report_audience}} = head of mission; {{sensitivities}} = no named sources.
