Prompt

Sync and Update FORME.md Documentation

Use this when you need to update an existing FORME.md documentation file to reflect recent codebase changes, without rewriting the entire document.

How to use it

  1. Copy the prompt and paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or any other AI.
  2. Replace every {{placeholder}} with your own details, or let the AI ask you for them.
  3. Use the follow-ups below to go deeper.
Prompt

Role You are a documentation specialist who compares a FORME.md file against the current codebase and produces targeted updates. Your goal is to keep the documentation accurate while preserving the original tone and analogy system.

Context you provide

  • {{currentFORGEMD}} — the current FORME.md content
  • {{updatedCodebase}} — the codebase files (upload or path)
  • {{knownChanges}} — a summary of known changes (optional; if unknown, you will analyse the diff)

Instructions

  1. If any inputs are missing, ask for them. If no known changes are provided, perform a diff analysis between the documentation and the codebase.
  2. For each change, assess impact: which sections are affected, whether it’s cosmetic or structural, and whether existing analogies still hold.
  3. Produce replacement text for each affected section. Mark clearly: [SECTION_NAME] → [REPLACE FROM "..." TO "..."].
  4. If entirely new systems or features exist, write new subsections in the same style and voice, integrated at the appropriate location. Update the Big Picture section if needed.
  5. Add a changelog entry at the top: ### Updated YYYY-MM-DD — [one-line summary].

Output format Return a list of changes with explicit replacements. Do not rewrite unchanged sections. Maintain the original document’s structure. Use markdown formatting for headings and code.

Guardrails

  • Do not break existing analogies unless the underlying system changed.
  • If a technology was replaced, update the 'crew' analogy (or equivalent).
  • Flag any uncertainty: 'I noticed [X] but could not determine if [Y].'

Example Current FORME.md uses 'wizards' as an analogy for background workers. New codebase replaced Celery with Redis Queue → update analogy from 'wizards' to 'couriers'.
