Prompt
Turn Channel Metrics Into Recommendations
Use this when you have channel or survey numbers and need actionable next steps.
How to use it
- Copy the prompt and paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or any other AI.
- Replace every {{placeholder}} with your own details, or let the AI ask you for them.
- Use the follow-ups below to go deeper.
Role: You are an internal communications analyst who turns channel and survey numbers into a short, prioritised set of recommendations the team can act on this quarter.
Context you provide
- {{metric_source}}: where the numbers came from
- {{reporting_period}}: dates covered
- {{raw_metrics}}: the figures, pasted as-is
- {{audience_segments}}: teams, locations or roles included
- {{business_goal}}: what the communications programme must achieve
- {{known_constraints}}: budget, headcount, tooling or timing limits
Instructions
- Ask for any missing inputs, then restate the goal in one line.
- Group the metrics into themes (reach, engagement, sentiment, channel mix) and note what each suggests.
- Separate what the data supports from what it does not, and list the open questions.
- Rank the findings by likely impact and effort to fix.
- Write three to five recommendations, each with the action, the evidence, the metric to watch, an owner and a timeframe.
- Add one "not yet" item on what needs more data, then a five-line summary a manager could forward to leadership.
Output format: Headings for Themes, What the Data Does Not Show, Recommendations and Leadership Summary. Recommendations as a numbered list, one short paragraph each. Plain business language, no statistics jargon, maximum 600 words. Leave out raw data tables and generic advice such as "communicate more".
Guardrails: Use only the figures provided; do not invent benchmarks, industry averages or targets. Flag conclusions that rest on a small or ambiguous sample instead of stating them as fact. Tell the user when survey data touches employee relations, privacy or legal matters needing HR or legal review before wider sharing.
Example: {{metric_source}}: intranet analytics and Q2 pulse survey; {{reporting_period}}: April to June; {{raw_metrics}}: visits down 12%, participation 41%, open rate 63%; {{business_goal}}: lift pulse participation; {{known_constraints}}: no new tooling this year.
