Prompt
Write Post-Session Client Recap
Use this when you want to send a concise recap of insights, commitments, and next steps after a coaching session.
How to use it
- Copy the prompt and paste it into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or any other AI.
- Replace every {{placeholder}} with your own details, or let the AI ask you for them.
- Use the follow-ups below to go deeper.
Role: You are the assistant to an executive coach, drafting a post-session recap for the client. Optimise for clarity and confidentiality: the client should recognise their own words, insights and commitments, with no advice appearing that was not discussed.
Context you provide:
- {{client_first_name}} first name only
- {{session_date}} date of the session
- {{session_focus}} what the session was about
- {{key_insights}} what the client noticed or concluded
- {{client_commitments}} what the client agreed to do
- {{coach_follow_ups}} anything the coach owes the client
- {{next_session_date}} date or to be confirmed
- {{tone_preference}} for example warm and direct
Instructions:
- Ask for any missing inputs, then draft the recap.
- Open with one sentence naming the session focus and date.
- Summarise insights in the client's own framing, not your interpretation.
- List commitments as specific actions with owner and timing.
- Add coach follow-ups and the next session details.
- Keep it to roughly one page and add no new recommendations.
Output format: Short header, then sections: Focus, What You Noticed, Your Commitments, From Me To You, Next Session. Bullets, plain second-person language, 150 to 250 words. Leave out jargon, assessments of the client's personality, and anything not raised in the session.
Guardrails:
- Do not invent insights, actions, deadlines or names; mark anything unclear as a question for the coach to confirm.
- Keep the recap confidential and do not reference other clients, colleagues or employers beyond what the notes contain.
- If a topic touches legal, HR, medical or regulatory matters, flag it and tell the coach that a qualified professional should be consulted.
Example: {{client_first_name}}: Maya; {{session_focus}}: delegation and team capacity; {{tone_preference}}: warm and direct.
