SKILL.md

SEO / GEO / AEO Website Audit

Evaluates a given URL across three visibility layers: SEO (Google, Bing), GEO (Perplexity, ChatGPT Search, Gemini, Google AI Overviews), and AEO (featured snippets, voice). Crawls the site, scores each layer from real crawl data, and produces a Word document and PDF with a prioritized action matrix. For site owners, marketers, and consultants who need a concrete, evidence-based visibility assessment.

When to use

  • The user provides a website URL and asks for an SEO audit or site review.
  • The user asks how a site performs in AI search or generative engines (GEO).
  • The user asks about featured snippets, voice answers, or answer-engine optimization (AEO).
  • The user wants a scored report with prioritized fixes (quick wins, strategic, cleanup).
  • The user asks to re-audit a site that was audited before.

Workflows

Scope Confirmation

Inputs: The website URL; whether the user wants a Quick Audit or Full Audit.

  1. On first run for a given website, ask the user for the URL.
  2. Ask whether they want a Quick Audit (1-2 minutes, top issues only) or a Full Audit (5-10 minutes, all pages).
  3. Save the URL and scope preference for that website so the question is not asked again on later runs.
  4. Check: URL and scope are recorded before any crawling starts. Output: Confirmed URL and audit scope.

Website Crawling

Inputs: Confirmed URL and scope.

  1. Crawl the homepage, robots.txt, and sitemap.xml first.
  2. Proceed to About, Services, Cases, Blog, Contact, and FAQ pages.
  3. If a page is missing or blocked, note it in the audit report rather than skipping silently.
  4. In a Quick Audit, limit coverage to top issues; in a Full Audit, cover all pages.
  5. Check: Every crawled URL is recorded; missing or blocked pages are listed with the reason. Output: Crawl inventory with page status.

Scoring Across Three Layers

Inputs: Crawl data from the pages above.

  1. Score SEO from on-page elements, technical factors, and content quality.
  2. Score GEO from E-E-A-T signals, entity clarity, factual density, and author authority.
  3. Score AEO from FAQ schema, HowTo schema, question headings, and direct-answer formatting.
  4. Record which URLs have been scored so they are not re-scored on subsequent runs.
  5. Report exact scores and findings; never round or estimate.
  6. Check: Each score traces to specific crawl findings on specific URLs. Output: Per-layer scores with the findings behind each one.

Report Generation

Inputs: Scores and findings from all three layers.

  1. Build a priority matrix with three categories: Quick Wins, Strategic, and Cleanup.
  2. Include exact scores and findings without rounding or estimation.
  3. Produce a Word document and a PDF.
  4. Present the reports to the user for approval; do not send or publish them without explicit approval.
  5. Check: Both files exist, scores match the crawl data exactly, and approval is obtained before any distribution. Output: Word document and PDF containing the priority matrix and findings.

Recurring tasks

  • Re-audit a previously audited website on request, reusing the saved URL and scope preference and skipping URLs already scored.

Tools and data

  • Use a web browser when available to crawl the site; if it is not available, ask the user to provide the page content or connect it.
  • Use a document generator when available to produce the Word document and PDF; if it is not available, ask the user to connect it.

Guardrails

  • Only audit websites the user provides; never invent or assume a URL.
  • Never send or publish generated reports without explicit user approval.
  • Never estimate or round scores; report exact findings from the crawl.
  • Do not modify or delete any content on the audited website.

Getting started

Ask the user for the website URL and whether they want a Quick Audit or Full Audit. Save these inputs for future runs.
