Committee Hearing Prep Agent

A complete hearing binder that matches the final agenda

Committee Hearing Prep Agent: what goes in, what the agent does and what you get

What it does

Before a committee hearing, members need the agenda, bill summaries, a witness list, likely questions and past statements, often with only a day or two of notice. This agent pulls the hearing notice, bills and witness list, then searches past testimony and public statements for each organizational witness. It drafts bill summaries and at least three suggested questions per agenda item, tied to the member's priorities. It checks that every agenda item and witness has a section, and fills gaps or lists them for staff. Right before delivery it checks whether the agenda changed and rebuilds only the affected parts. The assistant finalizes the binder. Edge case: when a witness is a private individual, the agent uses only their submitted written testimony and does no other personal research.

How it works

Follow the arrows from top to bottom. The orange dashed arrow is the loop: when a check fails, the agent goes back and tries again.

An example run

What happensA transportation hearing set for May 6 had 4 bills and 11 witnesses. Two witnesses represented a trucking association that opposed a similar bill in 2024; the agent quoted that testimony with links. The night before, one bill was pulled and another added, so the agenda check failed. The agent rebuilt just those sections, including questions for the new bill. The assistant approved the binder at 7 am.
