Adobe's Firefly AI Assistant Lets Creatives Work Across Apps With Text Prompts

Adobe has released Firefly AI Assistant, a conversational tool that handles edits across its entire app ecosystem-Photoshop, Premiere, Lightroom, Express, and Illustrator-using only text descriptions. Instead of bouncing between applications, creatives can now describe what they want and let the assistant execute the work.

How It Works

The assistant relies on what Adobe calls Creative Skills: pre-built workflows for common tasks like editing portrait photos with consistent presets or generating content for multiple social platforms simultaneously. Users can apply Adobe's existing skills or build custom ones tailored to their process.

The tool learns preferences over time, remembering favorite tools, aesthetic choices, and preferred output styles. Repeated use trains it to match individual creative voices.

Adobe says it has solved a persistent problem with AI creation tools: inconsistent results across large projects. If the company delivers on this claim, it addresses a real friction point for professionals managing multiple assets.

New Video and Image Tools

The Firefly Video Editor now includes automatic dialogue cleanup, color adjustment controls, and access to over 800 million licensed Adobe Stock assets directly within the editor.

Two new image editing features are rolling out. Precision Flow lets users browse variations from a single prompt using a slider. AI Markup lets users draw directly on images to place objects, adjust lighting, or add elements with a brush.

Adobe has also integrated Kling 3.0 and Kling 3.0 Omni into Firefly, adding to a roster of over 30 AI video models already available on the platform.

What Comes Next

These features represent substantial additions to Adobe's creative toolkit. Whether the assistant delivers the consistency Adobe promises will determine its real value for professionals managing production timelines and client deliverables.
