Adobe has taken its Firefly audio generation tools out of beta, making music, speech, and sound effects generally available to all Firefly users. The company also introduced a free tier for its Firefly AI Assistant and added Google's Gemini Omni Flash to its supported model roster.
The audio tools, first introduced in 2025 and expanded earlier this year, let creators generate original, fully licensed tracks that match a video's length and mood. Generate Speech turns a script into voiceovers powered by Adobe's Firefly speech model or ElevenLabs. Generate Sound Effects creates custom audio that matches the action, timing, and energy of a scene.
Adobe commissioned a survey with Berklee College of Music that found nearly 80 percent of video creators, musicians, and marketers post video content daily or several times a week, and every respondent uses music in their videos. More than 32 percent said they already use AI-generated music in their published work.
Commercially safe audio
Adobe's pitch to creatives is that Firefly output is commercially safe. The company says its generations won't run into copyright, legal, or licensing issues, which it identifies as the top barriers creators cite when using music. That's a meaningful distinction in a market where AI training data and output rights remain contested.
"Using Generate Music, I can create a soundtrack that is unique to the video I'm making, and it gives me peace of mind because I know the music is fully licensed for commercial use," creator Madeline Salazar said in a statement. "When I deliver something to a client, I'm putting my name behind the entire project, so being able to create original music for the piece, and feel confident about handing it over, has been incredibly important to me."
Free Firefly AI Assistant
The Firefly AI Assistant, launched in April, is a creative agent that connects to multiple Creative Cloud services. Instead of opening a single app, creators describe what they want and the agent orchestrates multi-step workflows across Photoshop, Firefly, Premiere, Express, Illustrator, and Lightroom. Earlier this summer, Adobe added skills for generating brand kits, short product videos, storyboards, and first-cut videos.
The assistant was previously limited to Creative Cloud Pro subscribers and select Firefly plans. It's now available to anyone with a free Adobe account, with an undisclosed number of daily generations. Gemini Omni Flash joins the roster
Adobe Firefly is designed to host third-party models alongside its own, provided they meet its requirements: providers agree not to train on creator data, models are accessible through a single subscription, and all AI-generated assets carry digital signatures and verified certificates. The platform already supports models from Kling AI, OpenAI, Runway, Black Forest Labs, and Google.
Gemini Omni Flash joins Google's Gemini 2.5 Flash and Gemini 3.1 in Firefly. It's built for high-end video and audio generation, giving creators another option for tasks that demand stronger output quality.
