Adobe Adds AI Assistant That Orchestrates Work Across Creative Apps

Adobe unveiled Firefly AI Assistant, a conversational interface that executes multi-step creative workflows across Photoshop, Premiere, Lightroom, Illustrator and other Creative Cloud apps. Creators describe what they want, and the assistant handles the technical execution across multiple tools in a single conversation.

The shift marks a change in how creative work gets organized. Rather than jumping between apps and manually stitching together steps, creators direct the assistant while maintaining control over the final output. The assistant asks clarifying questions, surfaces options, and lets creators adjust direction at any point.

What the Assistant Does

Firefly AI Assistant maintains context across sessions, remembering previous decisions and progress. When creators move to individual Adobe apps, that context carries over, eliminating the need to restart work.

The tool includes pre-built Creative Skills for common tasks-retouching portraits with consistent presets, generating social media content, organizing feedback from stakeholders. Creators can also build custom skills for their own workflows.

The assistant learns creator preferences over time, including preferred tools and aesthetic choices. It understands the assets being worked on-images, video, designs, brand materials-and takes context-aware actions based on that content.

Frame.io integration lets creators ask the assistant to organize and share work for feedback. The assistant interprets reviewer comments and applies changes automatically using the best available tools.

Expanded Model Library and Features

Adobe expanded Firefly's roster to include more than 30 AI models. New additions include Kling 3.0 and Kling 3.0 Omni, Google's Nano Banana 2 and Veo 3.1, Runway's Gen-4.5, and ElevenLabs' Multilingual v2.

Video editing capabilities now include studio-quality sound, advanced color adjustments, and Adobe Stock integration. Image editing adds Precision Flow and AI Markup tools for finer control.

Third-Party Integration

Adobe is integrating Firefly AI Assistant with third-party models, starting with Anthropic's Claude. This lets creators conceptualize projects in Claude and move directly into Adobe Firefly for execution without switching contexts.

Firefly AI Assistant comes to the Firefly app soon. AI Design Courses and Generative Art Training resources can help creatives get up to speed with these tools.
